Heather Maxwell

About me

Washington, United States

I'm Heather Maxwell. Some call me Dr. Maxwell or Dr. Max. I'm a singer through and through, but also a songwriter and lyricist. I like to sing in different languages, and specialise to harmonise and collaborate with other singers and musicians from different parts of the world. I have the opportunity to perform and record with several African artists such as Winyo, Habib Koite, and Oumou Sangare, and other artists and ensembles in South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Denmark and Germany.
I speak fluent French and Bambara (Mali, West Africa) and can play two African instruments; the kamalen n'goni and the balafon. I love music with interesting rhythms, timbres, and textures. I equally love performing live and connecting with audiences of all kinds.
I have produced a few of my own music videos and, in my current job as a multimedia international broadcaster (Voice of America) I create and produce music videos and radio programs regularly.

Keep it Natural 2

We are a trio of two female singer/songwriters and one composer/music producer. We join forces to speak on behalf of mother nature. Lamisi Anabilla Akuka (Ghana) and Heather Maxwell (USA) plead to all people living on the planet to treat nature well and with love and respect. We say that if you keep it natural, Mother Earth will repay you generously. We composed our melodies and lyrics in our respective, first languages (Kusaasi and English), and recorded in our own studios: Lamisi in Accra, Heather in Washington DC, Sasha from Switzerland.
