Giorgi Kiknadze

About me

Hamburg, Germany

I was born in Tbilisi, Georgia and moved to Lübeck, Germany in 1991. My father Reso is a composer and saxophone player and influenced me from my earliest childhood by showing me jazz and classical music. I started playing the piano at the age of six, continued with the cello at the age of 11 and „ended up“ with the double bass at the age of eighteen, first autodidactically and then studying at the HfMT in Hamburg, where I still live with my girlfriend and two kids. I became a member of the Hamburg Jazz scene and was lucky to perform with many great german and international musicians such as Adam Nussbaum, Gary Thomas, Jim Black, Till Brönner, and many others. I also have several own projects, including „Giorgi Kiknadze Quartet“ (the record „paysage“ was released in 2019 on „Unit Records“), „Giorgi Kiknadze Trio“ (where we are interpreting georgian music) or „H.K.S.K.K. play David Bowie“. My next planned project includes berlin-based musicians Phillip Gropper and Moritz Baumgärtner.
