My name is Leo Mkanyia, I'm from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. I was born on the 2nd September 1981. I'm from a musical family as father is a well known guitarist in Tanziana, his name is Henry Mkanyia, he played with a number of different music bands in Tanzania as well as touring around the world. I started playing guitar at the age of 8, stated by watching what my father was doing during his personal practice at home and later tried to copy what i saw my father doing, that's how I started learning playing guitar. I produced my first CD in 2011 in Dar Es Salaam, I called it Dunia hii which means " this world " a year later I released another one called Jasho langu which means "My sweat" and my third album I released in 2016 this one is called Bangili and I recorded in ketebul studios in Nairobi Kenya. I have recorded and performed with number of musicians including Dr Mulatu Astakte, the father of Ethio-jazz. Visit my site
