Guideline for Smartphone Videos

These guidelines are here to support you. Not to limit you. We are not looking for perfection, polished performances, or staged images. What matters to us is you: your presence, your way of creating, and what music means in your world. Think of this as an invitation to share a real moment. It can be short, simple, and spontaneous. Authenticity is far more important than technical perfection.

We’re very much looking forward to discovering your sound, your movement, and your perspective. Thank you for being part of Beyond Music.

UNUSUAL IDEAS ARE VERY WELCOME!

Home Is Where Music Is.

Hi and hello everybody!
This is the Beyond Music film team speaking. We are thrilled to provide you with an opportunity to present yourself to our community, and be featured in our social media channels. We developed several sketches and guidelines to give you some inspiration about the visuals we need. We want you to push your creativity, so grab your phone and film the world beyond your music... Get creative, and become part of the story!

A portrait of you

What does your home look like? What is your favorite creative setting? How do you make music? We want to see you in your favorite location: a room, balcony, roof terrace, or anywhere you enjoy being creative.

Place yourself in the middle of the space and face the main daylight source, for example a window.

Place your feet as described. Shift the weight to the heel of the right foot. Now turn your upper body to the left. This is your starting position.

Press the record button and look into the lens. Now start your rotation and turn clockwise on the right heel.

Turn your right foot as far as possible. Then make a little step with your left foot and continue to rotate.

Make sure that your face is always centered on the display. Keep Looking into the lens during the shoot.

Keep turning and stay in balance! The smoother the rotation, the better the recording.

SMILE!

A portrait of your instrument

Film a short 3 to 7 seconds video of yourself singing or performing with your favorite instrument. For example a nice vocal phrase, a few piano chords, a short percussion rhythm, a guitar lick or a flute line. Record a short video in which you complete the sentence, “Music for me is…” and share what music means to you.

Take your instrument, start playing with one hand and film with the other.

Please imagine your instrument as a landscape. The instrument should be in the foreground to fill the image.

Record yourself from unconventional perspectives. Unusual ideas are very welcome!

Try to do something similar. Have fun and enjoy playing!
