Edgars Cirulis is a Latvian composer, improviser, arranger, and pianist, currently based in Riga, Latvia.
His music studies began at age 3 when his parents bought him a toy keyboard. The initial doodling eventually evolved into a more serious study of classical piano repertoire and technique and later - improvised music and composition studies.
Edgars’ musical and creative development has been flowing through many different genres, styles, and mediums. At first, influenced by jazz musicians and composers, his path has now led him into exploring contemporary classical music and modernist art. His interests range from reconstructing well-known forms and idioms and bringing the key elements out in an unconventional manner to researching music that connects with a deeper, more emotional understanding of the world - music that comes from our heritage.
His motivation is to bring the unknown in the familiar, and the familiar in the unknown.

"Circle Of Light" was composed at the beginning of the Covid-19 shutdowns and became a cooperation between four friends who are living quite apart. Alto Saxophone player Toms Rudzinskis who is living in Berlin, Federico Nelson Fioravanti, who is living in Aalborg, Edgars Cīrulis currently living in Aalborg & Riga and Kilian Sladek living in Munich. They used the digital possibilities to create art in times of isolation. The song "Circle Of Light" stands for the spiritual & musical connection the internet offers in times of segregation.
