“Juju” in African culture is a concept. It might mean “good” or “who you cherish”. In the West Region of Cameroon it is a tribute paid to ancestors, a cultural practice of oiling ancestors' shrine. This song represents two cultures- Cameroon and Jewish cultures. Often conflicts arise from misunderstandings, lack of knowledge and rejection of the unknown. In this song, we tried to resolve the conflict by getting to know each other's cultures, unique traditions and core value.
the meeting of several countries and musical influences .. we approached the conflict under two aspects. Firstly musically through the different harmonic and rhythmic colors put together; to say that the result of a conflict isn't always discord or a war but sometimes something original can come out. In the lyrics Addressing the identity crisis conflict of the self forgetting who we truly are. We believe love's light shines brighter than the biggest star and has the power to drive all kinds of darkness which is the source of every conflict.
our song is the result of a very digestible cultural mixture ... between the highlands of western Cameroon at home, Spain, England, the USA and Denmark. ..We remind all human beings that planet Earth is our common home and we praise its merits. ..it is the heart; our house; our mother and we are all her children ;children of a same house .. "paa yo" means in Bamiléké language of Cameroon "our home"
This is a song about how we as humanity are in the process of learning to sing along to mother natures sacred song. It is an anthem to uplift our spirits and remind us to use our voice to rejoice and join her sacred song which in practical terms also means to choose to live and act in harmony with each other and our beautiful mother nature. It has been an amazing experience to collaborate as musicians from all over the world to make this song come alive.
