Alain Oyono

About me

Dakar, Senegal

Alain is a song writer, composer, singer and musician who was born April 17, 1984, in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He learned to read and write music at a young age thanks to his late father. His instrument of choice is the alto saxophone. A fervent promoter of African rhythms, he mixes a rich combination of styles picked up throughout his career. Enhanced by tours and collaborations, musical match making is an integral part of his creative concept. Many considered him to be the heir to Manu Dibango. He was taught the technique of musical arrangements by Tom Yoms. Over time Alain performed alongside many Cameroonian musical monuments such as Manu Dibango, Étienne M’Bappè, Cesaria Evora, Tiken Jah, Alpha Blondy, Richard Bona... He has been part of Youssou Ndour’s orchestra “Super Étoile de Dakar“ since 2013 and has also performed with Omar Pene’s Band the «Super Diamono». The sound of his saxophone can be heard on several albums including Youssou N'Dour’s “HISTORY” and Omar Pene’s upcoming album.
