Thanks to an immediately distinctive sound and to a range of great diversity, the French cellist Matthieu Saglio has established himself as one of the most fascinating cello players of his generation. He is presently settled in Valencia, Spain and is an artist ambassador by the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. Out of a classical background, he is one of the pioneers in introducing cello to flamenco with his band Jerez-Texas, which has been touring around the world since 2002. At the same time, Matthieu multiplies solo, duo and band projects as well as accompanying numerous groups in the fields of jazz/world/cross-over/classical.
In 2020, Matthieu recorded a new album, 'El camino de los vientos', released by the prestigious German Label ACT, with the collaboration of Nguyên Lê, Nils Petter Molvaer, Carles Benavent, Vincent Peirani, Steve Shehan, Bijan Chemirani, etc.
Unanimously welcome by international review, the album got 3 millions streams on Spotify.

For me (eva) it was a dream come through to work with cello & kora. Matthieu Saglio (cello) and Josh Doughty (kora) were the first names that popped up on the Beyond platform when I search for these instruments. The collaboration went very smooth. One email/call and both cello and kora parts were a wrap. The demo is quite rough and could easily be shortened, changed and recorded in better quality. What’s clear is that we’re a match. The lyrics are all about dealing with conflicting opinions and dissonances in our lives.
