. Moussa Cissokho was born in Dakar (Senegal) in 1983 into a family of musicians. As the son of Bacary Cissokho and grandson of the "King of Kora", Soundioulou Cissokho, he grew up in the tradition of the griots. Even in our medialized, globalized world, the griots keep their tasks and tell stories, teach, admonish and praise. And sometimes they just let their koras sing.

His grandfather was instrumental in popularizing the kora instrument in Europe. He grew up in the village and of course knows the rituals and sounds of tradition. Moussa grew up in the community of the Mandinka culture, where knowledge is imparted through oral traditions, stories, songs and proverbs. Every child naturally grows up in the village traditions. Moussa now plays in different ensembles, line-ups and styles, especially in Central Europe. In 2015 he received a diploma in “traditional music” at the national art school in Dakar.
