Paol Serret was born in the picturesque Latin Quarter in Paris in 1956 and from an early age he was captivated by music.
In 1977, he met an Iranian Santoor player in a popular bistro in his neighborhood. Paol discovers the beauty and the sonic enchantment of the 72-string Persian instrument, he decides to go to Iran and after a perilous journey through the Middle East by hitchhiking, he acquires his first Santoor and begins to study oriental music in Benares in India.
Inspired by his travels, nourished by exchanges with multicultural musicians, in 1982 Paol immigrated to Canada and began a career as a composer and gave concerts of world music for more than fifteen years.
Paol composed four albums in Canada - Breathing 1985 - Tapis Volant 1987 - Back to The Fields 1992 - Sand 2016.
