Nora Benamara
I'm a french-german singer based in Leipzig, Germany. In my music I like to mix my different cultural backgrounds: jazz, classical, elements of pop and arabic music... and improvise!
I grew up near Paris and started playing the piano at a young age. My father being an opera singer, I was bathed in classical music my whole childhood. I was around 18 years old when I first discovered my singing voice. I then started to play the guitar and cover the musicians I loved at that time (Nina Simone, Devendra Banhart, Hindi Zahra, Radiohead...). In 2015, after getting my degree in visual communication in France, I came to Weimar, Germany, to study jazz-singing with Michael Schiefel and Jeff Cascaro. In these years I learnt a lot about jazz, improvisation and composition and met various artists with whom I'm still working today. My two main projects are currently my own quartett with which I play my own compositions and a duo with the singer and pianist Aeham Ahmad (www.aeham-ahmad.com).
