Carolina Alabau

About me

Rubí, Spain

Hello!

I am Carolina Alabau, singer and composer from Barcelona, Spain.
After finishing my master's at Berklee Valencia I am currently in a compositional stage where I investigate and deepen into the sonorities of Spanish folk music, together with my knowledge of jazz, all of which goes through my identity as a singer-songwriter.

My first album, "Primera Mirada", released and presented just before the pandemic began, helped me to advance and direct my energies towards new sources of inspiration.

Looking forward to meeting new musicians with whom I can connect and learn from.

Seven

I originally wrote this piece for solo piano and arranged it for the Beyond Music Project. The idea of the song and of this production is to mix the acoustic with the electric by opposing these two universes and playing with their opposition but especially their complementarity. Conflict is for me a succession of different stages: the calm where some tensions begin to be created, which little by little will take more and more magnitude and end up breaking out. This is what I wanted to show through our interaction in the piece.

Y digo NO

This song "Y digo NO" talks about the inner conflict that we sometimes may have when we don't let ourselves overcome some bad experience we had in the past. Those moments when we had so much pain or our trust was broken stay inside and we don't evolve. It is a song to myself, to each one of us, to not let our own fears stop us so we can keep moving forward and regain the trust in ourselves, the others and the world. To create this song I have collaborated with musicians from Ecuador and Italy (guitars), America (bass) and Canada (drums).
