I am a proud tribal member of Ngāti Maniapoto-Waikato, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Raukawa, Ngāti Tahu-Ngāti Whāoa from Aotearoa/New Zealand and Irish ancestry which informs my identity and creativity. I come from both a commercial music, sound production and academic background having been involved with the New Zealand industry and music and education communities for 20 years. I am passionate about music, education and recognize the ways in which innovation and creativity provides growth in my life, the lives of students, staff and their communities.Having recently graduated with my PhD – ‘The Sound of Identity – Exploring the multidimensionality of wāhine Māori (Māori women) through audio-portraiture’ in 2020.
I am a singer, I play the piano and a little guitar but primarily I play Logic Pro. I love samplers, drum machines and music technology. From music, I have since gone on to become very passionate about writing for screen, especially stories that reflect, indigenous, LBTQI+ communities.
