Claire Cope is a British composer and pianist who works across a multitude of genres including contemporary classical and jazz and improvised music. As a bandleader she has performed at the Manchester Jazz Festival, the London Jazz Festival and as part of the BBC Proms Plus Series, broadcast on BBC Radio 3. As a pianist, Claire has collaborated with a wide variety of musicians, including performing in Andy Scott's 'Mancunity' band and with Jemma Freese on her debut album 'Shadow Boxing'. In 2019, Claire composed and performed the solo piano score for Rob Cope's documentary film 'Richard Turner: A Life in Music', and in 2020, Claire released her debut album with contemporary jazz septet Ensemble C. In 2022, Claire won a Marvin Hamlisch International Music Award in Jazz Composition, and was commissioned by the Apollo Saxophone Quartet to write a new work. In 2023, Claire looks forward to participating in the LunArt Composer Hub with Dorothy Chang in the US.
