Stefan Sand is a Danish conductor, composer and pianist who moved to Iceland in 2019 as an exchange student from The Royal Danish Academy and following this decided to stay in Iceland. In 2017 he finished his BA in Piano Performance from RDAM but has since moved his focus to conducting and composition. Most lately he studied at the MA program in composition at Iceland University of the Arts. Stefan has conducted Iceland Symphony Orchestra on several occasions as part of the Young Conductors Academy under guidance of principal conductor of Eva Ollikainen.
Together with colleagues Thomas Hammel and Haukur Darri Hauksson, Stefan has created an art group called “Art Across”. This group has come to life in the year 2022 and in short can be described as follows:
Bringing together hearing experience and deaf experience, sign-language arts, and music. The pieces presented in our concerts try various ways at conveying a unifying experience to two different audiences.
