Helen is generally fascinated by folk music and moves in a wide variety of musical styles. Besides her love for Irish Folk, her heart beats just as much for traditional Swiss folk music and other regions such as the Balkans and Scandinavia.
During her bachelor and master studies at the Lucerne Music University (CH) she deepened her musical studies on the violin in jazz and folk music.
Helen performs on renowned stages and festivals. Currently she plays with the bands "Helen Maier & The Folks", "Áed", "KUNZ" and "À la Django". She composes and arranges for her bands, organizes music events, festivals as well as folk sessions, leads folk ensembles and passionately teaches her students.
Helen's music is influenced by numerous corners of the world as well as jazz and pop. What remains important is the connection to Swiss melodies and rhythms.
