Momo Akashi
Momo Akashi is a New York-based English and Japanese book writer, lyricist, and producer. She completed her master’s degree in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Momo specializes in creating works that explore the theme of East-Meets-West, blending her Japanese cultural heritage with elements from other parts of the world to craft beautiful stories and music.
Momo recently wrote a full-length musical, Minoru: Scrape the Sky, about the architect of the World Trade Center; this work previewed in part at New York City’s 54 Below in May 2022. Her original play about climate change, The Show Must Go On, was chosen for the Sixth Festival and will premiere at Theatre 80 in New York in June 2022.
