'’These songs are not just melodies, songs, but deeply felt experiences, like images of the soul’’ Jodok W. Kobelt, Global Sounds Magazine Switzerland
Hello fellow musicians, my name is Jono Heyes, I grew up in a little gold mining town, in the foothills of the Kakanui mountains in the South Island of New Zealand. The wind of music has blown me to Czech Bohemia on the other side of the world, where I now live on my own land. See the picture above!
Making music is like preparing food for the soul with harvested fruits from the roads of life. I love singing and playing many instruments, some which I build. Cross pollinating influences from around the wonderful world.
For my latest album, Beehive, released in 2023, I wanted to create a sacred journey of cross pollinations, so I built my own Beehive Temple and recorded and filmed the whole album live with a team of 7 musicians…

A few years ago, as I was falling asleep, the face of young child appeared before me. It was a little girl wandering alone across a desert under the night sky, escaping a war. In the vision it seemed she was real, and that she was calling for help. Some days later a melody came and I began writing the song about her. For the piece to embody the depth of emotions around Syria, I wanted to find a Syrian musician.. The song came to life with his soulful tones, the Beehive Orchestra and the harrowing tones of a Spanish Oboe player
A transformational from Dark into Light piece, 'Where do we dream?' winds its way through the despair and suffering of the wars made for profit, a quotation salute to Julian Assange and a wild call for dreaming of a better world. The song is brought to the summit in the middle with powerful soul vocals from Ghana, supported by a German Saxophonist, Piano and Banjo before morphing into the lush major harmonies of an Acappella Choir inviting us all to Dream of a better place.
Humanity was born from an ancient melody that arrived one morning like a breeze from the east. I wanted to see what would happen if the melodic caterpillar would metamorphosize, as an allegoric journey representing humanity in transformation. Two French musicians and a German Saxophone player, konnokol breaks, boisterous sax solos, break beats, french spoken word. Lyrically pointing to the urgent need for humanity to transcend materiality which slaughters animals for its irrepressible hunger and cuts the Tree of life deep at the roots.
