UMOJA
Over 15 years of experience as a DJ and music producer. A passionate dreamer, dancer and creator.
Founded UMOJA in 2011 with fellow artist Jo Bissa, exploring the vast heritage of the music from the globe, gearing towards South American as well as (East) African sounds. These efforts have led me to Kenya where I am now aiming to establish myself as a producer, working with local artists on re-imagination of rich musical styles like Benga, Mwanzele, Taarab and Chakacha.
"JO ABIRO" is a Dholuo word from the Luo people of Kenya, which means "I am coming accompanied by unseen entities." The composition and lyrics were written by Udulele, while Moritz Isidor, a renowned guitarist from Germany, skillfully performed the second guitar, arranged the song, did final mastering, and mastered the song. The mixing was expertly handled by Jeffrey Bok, a sound engineer and producer from the Netherlands who is also known as Jeffrey Bok. Jeffrey Bok is also one half of the well-known Dutch DJ/producer/engineer duo called Umoja
