Be from the World

About me

Carcavelos, Portugal

Barnabé Freixo, also known as Be from the World, is a Paris-born Portuguese musician and visual artist whose work seamlessly blends hip-hop, reggae, soul, and world music. After 27 years in London, where he founded the band The Bellagios and became the first Portuguese male to perform at Glastonbury in 2005—a milestone still unrecognized in Portugal—he now channels life's challenges into his art. In 2022, after losing a son to suicide and caring for another with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, music became his lifeline and form of healing. His EP 404: Songs Not Found critiques algorithmic censorship and celebrates independent artists. Currently, he's working on a new album due in October. His music and collaborations transcend borders, uniting diverse voices through powerful storytelling, resilience, and the belief that creativity can transform pain into hope.
