YLA
I am YLA, a pianist, singer, composer, and arranger. My music blends R&B, jazz, bossa nova, and Afro-Cuban traditions. Born and raised in Cuba in a family of musicians, I was drawn to artistic creation from an early age. My songs reflect my story and experiences with sincerity and simplicity, shaped by a rich mix of harmonies and rhythms.
In 2021, I emigrated to France. After a period of adjustment, I returned to the stage, working with excellent musicians from the region.
My main project focuses on my original compositions, many of them unreleased, as well as arrangements of traditional Yoruba songs. I currently concentrate my artistic activity primarily on my trio.
Alongside this project, I continue my work as a singer and arranger with the vocal group Sexto Sentido, of which I am a proud founding member since 1997. I am also a pianist in a Cuban popular music ensemble and work as a choir director.
