Ragnhild Hemsing

About me

Aurdal, Norway

Ragnhild Hemsing is a violinist and Hardanger fiddle player with roots in Valdres, Norway. Moving between classical music and Norwegian folk tradition, she brings her two musical languages together in a distinctive artistic voice. As a soloist and chamber musician, she works with orchestras and artists internationally, while commissioning new works that expand the repertoire for the Hardanger fiddle. At the heart of her work is a desire to give the instrument its own voice on the classical stage, with all its colours, history and expressive possibilities. Curiosity about what happens when traditions meet runs through everything she does.
