Girum and Alhousseini met during a festival in 2005 and kept in contact ever since, till the idea to work together came up. We rehearsed together and organized a very successful concert. We call this collaboration the pan African pentatonic project. It is a creative fusion of desert blues and “ethio jazz” involving guitars and traditional instruments like the masinko and krar from Ethiopia, calebash and music bow from Niger. We continue this collaboration in 2019 with more concerts in three different African countries including more recording.
