Based on an Iraqi Maqam called Lami, this piece has the elements of Funk, Jazz, and Iraqi Makam. The work is empowered by using a floating bridge Iraqi style Oud, playing a long funky rhythm. The Flute, played by Sandro, beautifully blends with the Oud creating a passionate "dance" on the funky rhythm of Michael and the warm, artistic and elegant bass line played by Osmar. Adding to that, an improvised vocal "Mawal" singing an ancient love poem. FunkyLami won a Beyond Music Public Award in 2019.
