Wild Like Fire - Nayi Umang
This song is both a paean and a prayer for Mother Earth. The world is facing many challenges and in light of the effects of climate change wreaking havoc on the landscape and quality of life for many, this song is told through the lens of the California wildfires, past present and future. It is not the current generation's fault that the powers behind global capitalism have acted in total disregard of the well being of our planet, but it is our responsibility to reclaim our collective power and make lasting and meaningful changes to save her. Fire can be destructive, but also visually beautiful and a catalyst for new beginnings. The message we hope to convey is one of deep compassion for our planet, and also a wish for the empowerment of the Earth's people.

Earth Tell My Eager Hands
This song is about one of the most archaic symbiosis between human mankind and the earth. The peasants humble plea to his lands, to provide for his people, ready to work with his hands and in his sweat. I started with piano and voice building the structure and atmosphere of the song. Mauro came up with a great arrangement, based on electronic grooves, sampling different objects to recreate the sound of working the land. Natalie gave nice trumpet parts, lightening up the mood of the plea in an almost New Orleans marching band spirit. Msafiri wrote a beautiful poem in his language (complementary to my lyrics) recorded his voice, speaking and chanting. And here it is : our tribute to the infinite force of the earth and how we are intertwined therein.
