Mokili (Earth)
Mokili means Earth in Lingala (Congolese Language). In this Acapella track which blends African vocals, latin percussions, European classical influences and ethnic rap, Mankind's voices address Mother Earth in a mea culpa that transcends cultures and geographies. „Mokili“ is based on an afro - cuban Rhythm called „Abacua“. There is a conversation of three different tuned congas in this rhythm. On top of that there is some improvisation of another one. David added more percussion, to make it sound differently and to take it away from the tradition, using a low tuned Djembe, an ceramic Udo drum and a Arabian drum called Daf. These instruments create a unique world of sound, just using acoustic instruments from all over the world.
