Here I am performing in my beloved Waterchurch. A church in the river Limmat in Zürich. I am singing the first part of a traditional Dhrupad performance: Alaap. This part is very slow, opposite to the later fast and rhythmical parts. The Raag, the musical or tonal system, is shown note by note, microtonal precise, in resonance to the Tanpura, the accompany drone instrument. There are no words, only syllables like te ta ra na, ri naa, ri num etc. In the focus is the pure sound. Raag Baageshri is a late night Raag.
