This is a composition by the great tar and setar player Hossein Alizadeh, rearranged and harmonized by the Masnavi Duo. By engaging in a musical dialogue between the kamancheh and the piano, the Masnavi Duo brings together two very different musical traditions – classical Persian music and jazz - and creates a new and emotional listening experience: ancient Persian melodies are illuminated and transformed by Western harmonies, the lively sound of the piano is infused and deepened with the spiritual energy of the kamancheh.
