A ‘tonada’ is a traditional genre of work songs from the Venezuelan Llanos region, where the main economic and cultural activity revolves around livestock. It is sung during the intimate ceremony of cow milking, done by the 'ordeñador' in the early hours before sunrise. I composed this tonada to a cow that exists only in my imagination, as my own homeland sometimes does. My voice is accompanied by a flamenco guitarist, since Andalucia has also been my home.
