Meet the Social Activist Award winners

Dear Beyond Music family,

At Beyond Music, we’ve always believed that music can change the world - and you prove it every day. Not only through the songs and collaborations you create on our platform, but also through the many social initiatives you lead and support, whether in your own communities or far beyond your home countries.

We are deeply inspired by the range of projects you’ve created, from music education and peace initiatives to environmental and humanitarian work. Have a look at what members around the world are doing on our Social Initiatives page.

To honor this spirit, Beyond Music and the Beyond Foundation have introduced the Beyond Music Social Activist Award. Each year, five members are celebrated for their outstanding social engagement. This award shines a light on individual initiatives that represent the collective passion and commitment of our entire community. Each award is endowed with 1,000 USD to further support their initiatives.

This year, we are thrilled to celebrate the very first recipients of this award — five extraordinary artists whose work embodies the heart of Beyond Music.

  • Aaron English and the International Youth Music Project (IYMP) empower orphans, refugees, and HIV/AIDS+ youth in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania through music, dance, and education. His Music Gear Donation Program and Simba’s Footprints spread hope, creativity, and opportunity across East Africa.
  • Shishani bridges cultures through Namibian Tales, a collaboration with the Ju’hoansi San community. Blending traditional sounds with soul and jazz, she amplifies marginalized voices and preserves Namibia’s rich musical heritage.
  • Martín Guas merges music, art, and activism in his project Under the Ocean — a short film shot 100 meters underwater in Liguria to spotlight climate change and inspire global awareness through sound and beauty.
  • Nélida Karr, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and multi-instrumentalist, empowers children and young women in Equatorial Guinea through MOSART and The Karr Center, offering free music education, mental health support, and opportunities for growth and resilience.
  • Vincent Bugozi brings music to hospitals, elderly homes, and prisons across London. Through Open Stage UK, part of Italy’s Officine Buone network, he unites emerging artists and marginalized communities, turning everyday places into stages of hope.

We celebrate you - and all our members - for showing how music can build bridges, heal, and inspire change.

If you, too, are working on a project where music plays a key role in creating positive impact, we would love to hear from you. Please share it with the other members by adding it to the Social Initiatives field on your Beyond Music profile.

We will feature your initiatives on our Social Initiatives page and across our social media channels to highlight your incredible work around the world.

Every effort counts,
Every note matters.
Together, we make the world more humane and harmonious.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Konstanze & Regula
