About the song
„Chica de Favela“ tells the story of a strong and independent woman from the favelas of Brazil, a powerful anthem of female empowerment that celebrates the courage of women everywhere to shape their own destinies.

In Angélique Kidjo’s own words:

Behind the scenes in Paris
In late 2024, Pesa, Siddhartha, and Shocktraderz traveled to Paris, France, for six days at the invitation of Beyond Music to record "Chica de Favela" with Angélique Kidjo and multi-Grammy-winning producer David Donatien. During this creative time, the song was rearranged and expanded with Angélique’s new vocal part, highlighting the collaboration and creative exchange between all artists involved. Angélique’s entire band joined the studio sessions, playing together live and adding their unique spirit to the recording.

The result is a powerful collaboration that captures the essence of social change, the very heart of Beyond Music Vol.4.
