Keep it Natural 2
We are a trio of two female singer/songwriters and one composer/music producer. We join forces to speak on behalf of mother nature. Lamisi Anabilla Akuka (Ghana) and Heather Maxwell (USA) plead to all people living on the planet to treat nature well and with love and respect. We say that if you keep it natural, Mother Earth will repay you generously. We composed our melodies and lyrics in our respective, first languages (Kusaasi and English), and recorded in our own studios: Lamisi in Accra and Heather in Washington DC. At moments in the song, we also dip into singing a phrase or two in the others' language further playing and exploring the ways our voices join together. From Switzerland, producer Sasha Slain (Russian Federation/Israel/Ukraine) weaves the glossy music bed of drum patterns, synths and bass station.

The Time Is Now
We live on this beautiful planet, we breathe thanks to it. She generously gives us what we need. The song "The Time is Now" is about our relationship and our behavior towards it and our disconnection from each other. We now know that the resources are not limitless and it is time to reconnect. There are no better times than now. The Time is Now

Forgive us
‘Planet forgive us’ is a song written asking forgiveness from the earth, for all the beauty and bounty that we’ve destroyed as humans. We can’t pretend we don’t know what we are doing to our world, and as the song says, ‘we’re Midas, choking everything we touch with fool’s gold’. So the song expresses the sorrow of understanding that the earth would be ‘Eden’ once more, without our actions. ‘Our dear small pale blue dot’ refers to what the astronauts described when they saw the earth from space. The song asks the question ‘will we learn to change, to grow, clean up the mess we’ve made, help the earth to grow’. The track was composed by Sasha Shlain, and the melody and words by Heather Ella Rose, in another unique Beyond Music collaboration introducing musicians from different countries and cultures to each other via the platform.

A Better World
'A Better World’ is written with hope and gratitude for the world we have, and also for the potential we have to make a better world. As the lyrics say; ‘Thank you for all that is good, for the hope, that we can build a better world’   The song also asks deep questions as our planet suffers from our actions, asking ‘is there another earth we can escape to?’ The poetic spoken-word part of the song refers to the ‘world between worlds’, where pain and suffering can be transmuted to love and transformation, through courage, gratitude and hope.    With a soundtrack created by Sasha Shlain, and words, melodies and vocals from Heather Ella Rose, as well as guitars by Jan Schroeder this music was a pleasure to create together. It is a true Beyond Music collaboration spanning several countries and encompassing different musical approaches.

Wholehearted
Kate: The idea is, that in order to save the planet ,
we need the people who are whole at heart to take part in the effort.... Sasha: The musical concept of the song is based on idea of breaking the stigmatic thinking of structure or the relations of the instruments/voices involved. This song is recorded entirely without bass line, and almost without presence of traditional “drumming”. Focus is entirely on a beautiful voice of Dagga and melodic passages of the Fluteraman's flute, as the most spiritual tools of this production. Fluteraman: It was such pleasure to collaborate and work on Sasha Alexander 's composition .. It is so serene the way the songs starts and the voice with the texture and expression was very captive . The melody is just haunting and makes me hum the tune again and again and Thanks Sasha Alexander for having me on this.

Aval Allah
"Aval Allah" is based on the poetry of Kabir a 14 th century Bhakti(celebration of love) poet from India . His poetry has remained a pillar of unification of people divided in religious , caste , sex based divisions etc . While leading a music workshop with school children on an organic farm tour to help them understand nature of organic farming , one of the students started singing Kabir . "Dheerey Dheerey Hey Manna Dheerey Sab kuch Hoye , Maali Seenchey Sau Ghada Ritu Aye Phal hoye" which means Slowly slowly o mind , slowly all things happen , the gardener sows seeds in 100 pots and the seasons come and plants grow and ripen . This aptly captures the nature of organic farming where things are in harmony with nature. This is the opening verse of the song. The Aval Allah is a very important prose of Kabir registered in Guru Granth Sahib of the Sikhs as well . He describes the universal light which unites us all and thus pointing there cant be any good or any bad or differences . Kabir was neither a hindu or muslim , his birth is shroud in mystery , he was a weaver and his music became very popular and still remains . With help of Beyond music we have carried the energy of Kabir across various different parts of world , Kazakhistan , Belgium and Switzerland . We have given it ,a beautiful modern interpretation to his poetry . The song is an invitation to grow and feel united in our various differences . Its apt for the time we are living in .

Dreamer
A cry for the children and youth of planet earth whose innocence, hopes and dreams suffer the risk of being stolen and shattered by destructive forces in societies of materialism, growing immorality, lack of family unity, racism, lack of spirituality, prejudices of various kinds and at the face of some of the gravest systematic injustices.

Bright New Morning
The sky and trees are the beauty of nature. It is the most intrinsic part of humanity. It is the art of God. Whether it's the morning sunrise or the moonlight in the night sky, everything roams around nature. Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength to protect it. If you truly love nature, you will find a way to preserve it's beauty. As Carl Sagan said : We have to Preserve and Cherish the pale blue dot, as it's the only home we've ever known.

Begin Again
The song talks about the relationship with our planet and expresses the wish to go back to the start and begin again. Just like a love relationship that has hit a hard time and you wish you could start over and get past the old hurt. 'What will remain when the cold winds blow the leaves away? In the pouring rain. Will we find love, can we begin again?'

SPRING
We are living in a unique time that reminds us just how much humanity is depended upon the nature of our planet. We are experiencing a very strange time with a world pandemic, which changed everything . for us, humans it turned everything we knew upside down. however, the world ls id not just us, and nature, seams to be stronger than ever. This song came to me one morning while I was looking through my window at the amazing power of nature's awakening from winter to spring. The strong colors and sweet sent of blossoming flowers, the buzzing sounds of bees and other insects , birds singing and flying about. It seamed to me like nature is having a party without human kind, and loving it. there is something so simple and so strong in the cycle of nature, and we tried to portray that also with the simplicity of the song, that got a beautiful musical wrapping.

We can be.
For us to save and take care of the planet we first need to know how to take care of one another, work together towards healing from things as humans then as we heal the way we treat the planet will change. The song is about where we need to start in order to be able to work together, we first need first introspection, erase the internal turmoil for a fresh and healthy relationship with each other as humans.

Fear
Sasha: This is not a song - this is a poetic-cinematic “dirty and messed” journey into one of a strongest experiences of human kind - the experience of Fear. The Fear of death of us as a species, the Fear of death of our beautiful world - is forcing us to move toward the corrected path of asking a question “are we the next to be extinct?” (…They come - They go…) At this point we are all looking for ways to find a possibility of making a lasting change, that would define us as kind that can overcome the temporary blindness and insanity and make a right decisions that would be aligned with natural world and stop the devastating destruction of our beautiful planet. Randy: "let love be your fearlessness".

SHIRA
‘’Nature is full of meaning, filled with indescribable music. The trees, the stars and the blue hills ache with a meaning which can never be uttered in words’’ - Rabindranath Tagore Here is how we would like to sum our expression/motivation behind 'Shira' In Silence and Joy I dance to the tune of yours O Mother Earth, I exist because you exist I do not know which language you speak, but I've sung many times in your embrace You have spoken to me through your silence All those traveled through me, Became a melody, a song I sing in silence and joy. ------------------------------------------------- Our composition ‘Shira’ is a melody/ a conversation with the mother nature in awe of her eternal beauty realizing her abundant love, solace and protection. This composition ‘Shira’ is purposefully made without any spoken words as some emotions exist beyond words. We also believe that this composition is made with love for all, no matter which language one speaks.

Mizani
Keya Nemesis: Mizani is a Swahili word used to mean Balance or Scales of balance. The track Mizani therefore is about taking time to think individually first and as a society what balance we need to live the world a truly better place to live in for our offspring weighing Financial Wealth against Ecological wealth which in the long run sustains not only us but the entire biosphere. In a prophetic tone the chorus asks the Questions of what balance, which balance, do we want a corrupt balance which is what we have always had in different versions? Keya Nemesis and Sasha Shlain collaborate to bring to the world audience a colorful message of action. To stop, think, learn and act for yourself, family, the entire human population and the biosphere what balance we need and strive to achieve it.

What have we done?...
Anat: This collaboration started from Sasha's beautiful and very expressive music. When I heard it, the main feeling that came up is - repent. We take so many things for granted in our lives, our health, freedom, wellbeing, and sometimes, only when it's taken away we realize that. Our planet is not solely ours, and it seams we have forgotten that we are only guests here, and we cannot use and abuse it without care. I'm hopeful that men & womenkind, will wake up, and start listening to what our planet is trying to tell us.

Last Dance
Randy: It's a poetic image using a metaphor of the world spinning around its axis as a dance and since, the planet's life is at risk, we decide to join pleading for mercy of life of the planet to continue by strategically asking whatever thing or thug that places the world at risk of dying to at least let it get one last dance. It's when you are left with no options and decide to reason out with the who hold's your life in his or her hands. Also since i believe music uplifts the spirit so it only naturally seems fair when worse comes worse the world will go out by way of dancing to death or rather being killed by music so that that vehicle can uplift the soul and carry it to the Great Beyond rather than getting killed by a thug. The idea of pleading for one more dance, is a strategy which would allow us to think of a more lasting solution while we're at it - (dancing if we get allowed to by the thug). I could go on and on and on...

Our Precious Mothers
Sasha: In many Native American cultures, women were viewed as extensions of the Universal Mother , and therefore vital to the continuation of their people. I found it extremely inspiring. They refuse to separate themselves from the land as (by they definition) nobody can own the land - you can only belong to land. They are the people that never gave up on protecting Mother Earth, and treating with respect Mother Nature… Now it’s our time to learn form them their profound loving relationship with the land, water, sky, sun and all living creatures on this beautiful planet - our Mother Earth. ... Very simple and warm melody accompanied by acoustic guitar is almost like a song to a child, and with soft flute and harmonica sounds - very comforting and relaxing. Theresa: The song , Our Precious Mothers, is a song I wrote to honor all mothers who give their children the unconditional love, support and guidance in their lives., as our Grate Mother Earth that continues to provide for us. Although she goes through so much , so many struggles, she continues to stay strong and provide. It’s a very important message for the people that we need to take care of our precious mothers and our mother the earth. Sasha composed the beautiful instruments to accompany a beautiful message for the people.

The Chase
Kate: The animals that share the planet with us are diverse and beautiful, but unfortunately countless species are dying out at a terrifying rate. We think it's important to remind humanity of the beauty they bring to our world, and to treat them with the respect they deserve as equally valuable residents of our planet. Sasha composed this beautiful track with the story of the song in mind, and the music expresses the pure exuberance of the life that surrounds us. Kate told the story with her words, and Joseph gave it a voice with his enthusiastic vocals. Sasha: This song become something very unexpected during the process of it's creation, as every musician brings something from his own , and the result is far more interesting and colorful from what it has started from. The "groove" of Jonathan and Lukas + multiple guitar ideas of Marcien and absolutely astonishing voice arrangement of Joseph (Mos-B) changed the whole perspective and a new version is a unique representation of musician of 4 continents.

We only got this World
Flameboy Universe: Let us take care of the earth.. there is nothing much to it than being considerate, this world has never harmed us what can be so hard to treat it like wise. Han Beyli: The message of the song truly captivated me and brought attention to the most crucial and important aspects of our lives. The courage to change. It's gonna define our future and the future of our planet. We have to be aware and educate ourselves, and one of the best ways to do so is through art and music.

World on Fire
Syssi: Temperatures are rising, lands are drying out, forests are burning, our world is on fire. Climate change is no longer a distant threat. Its effects are every day more acute and its consequences more dramatic. Let’s hear our planet’s call for help and respond, together. Kate: Fire is a force of destruction, but it can also be a powerful force for change. The human race has inflicted destruction and suffering on our earth mother, but if we pay attention, it's also a call for us to awaken and take responsibility for our actions. This song is an echo of that call. Sasha's beautiful, intricate fiery track inspired Kate to write the lyrics, and Syssi's mystical vocals evoke the voices of humanity and the creatures we share the planet with.

Rainy Days
Bi: Even if our planet Earth's surface is covered with 97 percent of water, we can't drink it as they are salty. So 'Rain' is the most important factor to keep life on Earth. But due to pollution caused by modern life style have affected the rainfall and water cycle. The arrival of Rain has always been celebrated. People dance and sing to welcome the Monsoon/ the first Rain after the scorching summer. There is an outcry for Rain water harvesting which precisely means to conserve Rain water for future use. Our Song 'Rainy Days' celebrates the joy of rain on planet Earth and talks to value its importance. It  demands to conserve rain water in order to solve the water problem and also to help the life continue on Earth. Randy: We tried to express how cultural values becomes part of our consciousness and how certain concepts and ideas are understood and passed on from generation to generation such as rain harvesting considering that some cultures have elements in them that help their people understand the importance of rain harvesting for example therefore when this lesson is missed in school for whatever reason then a child learns in the way of life led by his/her culture or from elders who have been brought up on certain values that their culture teaches. This gives an indication that cultures hold values in them and can be useful to help teach people life lessons adapted to the language, ease and familiarity that may be understood better and faster than other methods

The Prayer
This ancient sacred prayer song is a song to defend our Sacred Mother Earth. It is a prayer song that was given to our Lakota Nation to remember her. We pray and Sundance to this sacred song, sending our voice for healing during our Sundance ceremonies. We sing this sacred song by sending our voice to the Great Spirit that he knows we are sincere and how much we love Mother Earth. The sun, and moon are connected with her because they are part of the Sundance ceremony. We thank the Great Spirit, Tunkasila, (Creator God) and White Buffalo Calf Women that our people can pray for the whole world (Unci Maka) Mother Earth. Now more than ever, we need world prayer to defend our Sacred Mother Earth and pray for all the people around the world. Mitakuye Oyasin (We are all Related)

Inspiro
Sasha: New times - new adjusted directions. In light of recent events in the world and so largely spread of fear and panic we came up with the idea that we have to cheer up and propose a spiritual alternative to fear - JOY! We will come thru all of it, and to keep up in a spirit of useful active and optimistic shape - we call for an expression in music and dance! Lets vibrate in a different frequency. Anat: For me, music has always been a cure. Whenever I’m  in the presence  of music, or creating it myself, my spirit is uplifting, and I feel so much better. The ability to give this gift to others, is a total blessing . Sakhile: This is a positivity song that is meant to keep people in good spirit during all the depressing situations that the world faces everyday, music is one medicine that hits and you feel no pain (Bob Marley) so as the world turns lets keep the hope burning in song

We can do better than this...
Flameboy Universe: This song is meant to open the eyes of the people when it comes to understanding why some of these terrible things are happening around the world, the prime culprits is us as people, our actions/way of life contribute towards the world suffering, the best effective way to change the situation is to do better as a people Sasha: Just to add to Sakhile’s words - I decided to use a sample of the “Knyaz Igor “ opera by Alexander Borodin - the first 4 lines of the song ov the slaves… It represent a nostalgic longing to be at the place where you feel safe and home, where your freedom is an absolute… It somewhat feels sometimes that we are all slaves of the “rules of engagement” in our materialistically corrupted way of treating our nature, planet, and our co-Earthlings.

(like) Water
humanity has always aspired to be better, to go faster, higher, further … It seams like we may have gone too far, too high, too fast, too much. We had lost the delicate balance with nature, which is all around us, screaming “wake up, before it’s too late!” Nature mirrors our internal nature, with extreme phenomenas such as endless fires, floods, extreme weather, deadly viruses. Water is magical, and it has everything in it. It's the source of life, but can also be a cause for death. It’s beautiful and mysterious, and for me has always been a magical force. There are so many qualities for water, and I thing that perhaps, if we want to get back in alliance with the universe, we should stop, and look around us, and try to learn from our surrounding, and not to dominate it. "I want to be able to let go I want to be able to go slow Slow like water Calm like water Flowing like water..."

One World
ONE WORLD is a musical journey across our planet which explores the connections between cultures, the beauty of landscapes and the power of nature. Starting in the depths of the ocean, the cradle of primordial life, flutes play duets with the songs of whales. We proceed slowly to the beach, lulled by the sound of waves, while a sparkling layer of violin textures frolics over them. Traveling inland, we reach the jungle, and begin to hear the voices of animals and humanity. The voices carry a powerful message: We have one world, and although we are all different, we must work together. The journey continues, gathering voices and strength, from windblown deserts to rainy, fertile land in temperate zones. Rain washes our planet clean while the voices continue to sing: We have ONE WORLD.

Over The Hills
Our planet is home of an incredible variety of species. Unfortunately some are today close to extinction, imperilled by human action. The song is inspired by the last rhinos and tells the story of one of this beautiful endangered wildlife animal being tracked down by poachers, from his own view point. Out in the wild, who s the real beast? Can we stand by, accomplice of decline of nature?

Andrea:" Each new day is an opportunity to awaken our true essence as human beings and to understand that we all have the same Mother, and that our umbilical cord was also connected to Mother Earth. It is time to listen to her sacred voice carefully and identify it with our inner voice as a child, realising that we both carry the same glories and pains, like mother and child. It is urgent that we grow sure of our essence and our role, so that her heart does not break. We may still have some time left to make some art and to scream togheter, but we must listen first. Escuta a Mãe Terra!" Sasha: After listening to the material of Andrea, and falling in love with her meditative and spiritual way of singing, I proposed a music track that could reflect (potentially) this qualities in our collaboration work. I believe we succeeded to create an original piece, that representing both of us in a perfectly stylistically and culturally "blended" song . Listen to Mother earth. I am glad we could lay our hands together for that matter. Enjoy the result! I am sure you will... ;-)

Not perfectly round. (Her voice/part two)
Elly: As I listened to Sasha's original instrumental track, it felt quite organic to me and I immediately heard a melody and words emerging as if it was earth itself speaking to me, like a mother. A mother that is sometimes taken for granted, ignored. But even if she feels unloved at times our mother earth is still here supporting us, sustaining life for all living things. Regardless of how we treat her she will continue doing so until the end of time, like a mother would.

Lament (Her voice/part one)
“Lament” is a first part of a two-part piece “Her Voice”, and represent the cosmic voice of Mother Earth - in this case - an expression of pain, sadness and loneliness … Based on instrumental “waves-like” movements, multiple layers of voice sound-texture creating a beautiful, and somewhat dramatical “flow”with hypnotic element in it. All that finishes just with a small “memory of existence”, a piece of beautiful reminder of “once upon a time…”

Maly (Money)
This intense and groovy song dedicated to a main reason we are in trouble in any possible imagined way in our relationship with our planet: greed . The love for money and personal power that overcoming common sense and instinct of self-preservation, the will to sacrifice the sustainability of life itself for illusional and selfish “well being” based on personal economical capabilities.

SOY (I AM)
Sasha: “SOY” (I am) is a romantic, Italian stylized song, where our relationship with our “mother earth” presented as an interaction. In order to thrive you need to treat each other with care, love, attention and respect - it’s the only way to keep it alive … The absence of those above will , eventually, lead to disruption and disconnection , and finally - “death” of it. Mariana: This song is the voice of the earth in the first person, crying out to embrace it and give it a hope of change. Mother Earth feels without strength and needs to recover it.

Ya Hilalan
This is not a nice song. “Edgy” and aggressive in nature this piece is a statement of the force of Mother Nature on the verge of dispare - the last call to respond to love with love, and not with hate. Rooted in 19th century ‘muwashash” - a poetic form that includes music and vocalisation. It is a sophisticated musical genre that originated in Muslim Spain during the tenth century. It is described as a strophic poem with repeated rondo-like returns to a musical refrain. Musical environment of the piece is representing destructive and invasive attitude toward beautiful melody and words of love - something that can be interpreted as a today’s relationship of humanity with our very base - our beautiful planet Earth.

Qatalo elkhayal.
Heidi: Nothing lives up to the natural grace and beauty of what the earth has to offer. Instead of honoring it, we, humans, have systematically eroded the wonders of our planet with greed, short sightedness and straying far from the soul of our existence - the earth and our connection to it. The beauty is so great, it is almost like a fantasy. In the middle of all the horrific erosion, even the fantasy is dead. We (as a race) have killed it. This song expressing the wish to revive it and breathe life back into the astonishing beauty of the earth. Sasha: This song was a "classical" type of collaboration: from the very beginning - just a direction stylistically, until very end - fully recorded and produced track, we shared every step in creation of it,"ping-ponging" material to each other with remarks, wishes and corrections...Listen to it. Enjoy it! take it with you "take away" ! ;-)

"Bees and Butterflies"
Danielle: With vocal improvised in studio on a sunny tropical afternoon, Bees and Buterflies is the story of a flower that sings her gratitude and love to life. The flower is thankful for the bees and butterflies that come to flirt with her, and for the sun and the stars that reflects their beauty on her. Bees and Butterflies is a joyous call to reconnection with nature and its vegetal reign. it is written in “bulu” language, which is a language and tribe from South Cameroon. Sasha: With this song I had a bliss.... The picture of sunny day outside in the fields of green grass and all the flies and bees and butterflies immediately came to an idea of sound imitation of this picture "Z-z-z" and "J-j-j..." and when the clearly defined music phrase came in - I've heard exactly the chords you can hear now as well... It's a beautiful, hopeful and very brightening ode to life in all it's little and big forms, and the joy of being, and... being grateful to our beautiful "mother earth" that provides us with all that.

SAKALA BANA PHOOL - Celebrating Spring
'Sakal Bana Phul' is a Sufi song/ Sufi Kalam written by the 13th century Sufi and mystic poet Amir Khushrow. The song celebrates the arrival of Spring (Basant) on planet earth and also describes the longing of a lover in this season. It is said that one day, the poet saw a group of women dressed up in bright yellow Sarees, carrying bright mustard flowers were singing with utmost joy. Upon asking the women replied that they are dancing to celebrate the arrival of spring and are on their way to offer flowers to the goddess in the nearest temple. This inspired Amir Khushrow to write this poetry/ Sufi Kalam for his spiritual master Hazrat Nizamuddin ( one of the most famous Sufis on the Indian subcontinent and worshiped by all religions across India) to make him happy who was mourning the death of his sister's son. Hazat Nizamuddin was much amused to see his disciple dressing up in a yellow Saree, carrying lot of mustard flowers and singing for him and could finally break in to a smile after long. So every year, arrival of spring was celebrated through Basant Panchmi at Hazrat Nizamuddin as well as in all parts of India. I have composed 'Sakala Bana Phool' the way I connect with the philosophy of behind the song. I am so happy the way Sasha arranged it. We both wish and hope, you all like it and the song really touches all your hearts. Let the music connects and serve the greater purpose of human existence. Thanks and regards, Bijayashree and Sasha

Ilikner
Jivan: “Ilikner”. Another traditional melody in a new light . My vision and Sasha’s production, makes it sounds fresh and updated stylistically, is like a young voice singing old song. Sasha: Rare for duduk up tempo gave me an idea of trying almost impossible to associate with this instrument style - “Funk”, and some “Rock” elements. The whole experience become much more “stompy” and with attitude. Gentle sound of duduk now empowered by electric guitar and heavy drum patterns have a new “blood” in it. Enjoy the result of our passionate collaboration. :-)

Shushik
Jivan: “Shushik” (female name) This composition is Armenian traditional melody that played for years. I play them with my feelings and when Sasha does his magic by adding and changing the rhythms and harmonies they become traditional modernized masterpieces. Sasha: This amazing melody inspired me for a detailed research in harmonic fields, as a simple melodic line has a tremendous potential for interpretation. I hope I succeeded in surprising and convincing by my version of accompaniment, and rhythmic alternatives in achieving a new status of this piece.

Ngweha
Danielle: "Ngweha" (love in Bassa language) is basically an a capella song fruit of a total improvisation in studio. Realized in a process of free creation, where the harmonies were created and entangled as the inspiration went up, this song is an ode to the recognition of the need of love that resides in each one of us, this is a célébration of our natural ability to share that universal love with joy and abundance. Sasha: The hypnotizing, “shamanic” nature of Danielle’s song and her powerful voice inspired me for looking for special colors and unusual rhythmical patterns, in order to create “magic” supportive sonic environment. The song is minimalistic, so I carefully chose every part, not to distract focus form the “mantra”.

Upon the Horizon
I sent an iPhone recording of a melody idea for Sasha, and he sent back a fully produced track. I was very impressed and it made my song idea come to life in a way I didn't expect. I think his production makes the song more vulnerable, more interesting. For me, this song is special because it reminds us that we're all going through something. What is important is to remind each other that regardless of where we come from, we are still looking up at the same sky. We are all connected, like the lyric says: "We are all dreamers underneath a sky that glows." *Note- Sasha, I am not sure what instruments you used in the track, if you want to select those.

This song had been written upon a personal experience of loss, an attempt to transform darkness into light, to ''celebrate'' life while this world is becoming full of sufference and beauty at once. Sasha and I decided to collaborate because we both have curiosity for music on a human and artistic level, it has been a pleasure to work with someone with such efficiency and energy!

Diva (A Bird by Choice)
''Diva (A Bird by Choice)'' is a song celebrating the spirit of independent women across the world who dared to follow their dreams rising above of all the social boundaries. Sasha: I received an invitation from B (Bijayashree) for a collaboration exactly at the moment I finished my previous piece, and still had a hunger for more… Heard an idea proposed by B. and was really impressed to hear her vocal abilities :). I was happy to do it, as stylistically it’s different from what I usually do, and the challenge was a nice perspective to try my skills here. Bijayashree: This Original ''Diva (A Bird by Choice)'' is a composition close to my heart. I am very fortunate to meet the very talented, creative and humble musician Sasha on Beyond platform. Sasha agreed to work on my original composition even if the time was really short. His first bounce of the my original was what gave me the confidence that, we can do this together. As it says...Music has no language, this original composition has lyrics which does not necessarily has any meaning. It is a pure musical composition composed under the guidelines of a traditional Indian Raga. Sasha and me, we both look forward to see how this composition will be taken by the listeners. Wish and and hope that ''Diva (A Bird by Choice)'' touches all your hearts and you all resonate to the feeling of this original composition. Happy listening! Love and peace Bijayashree & Sasha

Complaint
" Complaint " is calling people to hear the cries of Mother earth which is being destroyed by humans . The song is sensitizing people to take actions against the destruction of the environment . Sasha: 2 weesk ago Minah have contacted me with a positive reply to my collaboration proposition (after 3 month that my message waited in her mail box), and… I couldn’t believe we have enough time for creating something that will be up to my standards - I like to have time for experimenting and letting things “sink and settle” … So I said “maybe another time”… I was surprised, but Minah wrote me again, and I felt the voice of passion behind the funny English :) - she is a Malagasy and French speaking. So - we decided to give it a chance. … and I think it was worth it. You are to decide. :-) I love a particular color of her voice and so different from mine way of melodic thinking. It was very inspiring collaboration that left a “taste for more”.

I Hear You
“I Hear You “ is a piece inspired by the concept of artistic search for perfection… that exist only as a product of creative expression. You never see it, but you always following the “voice” of it. It’s a not easy path to pursue , and one have to do it voluntary and dedicate his life to it - that’s the esoteric sacrifice that you have to make in order to enter this unstable and thorny relationship with your “muse”. My partners for this “love affair” where: an extraordinary guitar and drumset players from Switzerland and a brilliant and very unconventional cellist from Texas. Each one bring a new aspect and details to this tune, that definitely become a “fruit” of four. (I am truly blessed!) Thanks for listening, and… Enjoy!

four incarnations of love. 4.leaving
“Leaving” is the last piece of the cycle. This is an audio depiction of the last face of Love when it’s leaving for good. Played by Waldo Luck Alexander (violin) it’s perfectly describing that moment of farewell , and reminds me personally a phrase from old Russian song that “farewell is a little death”. Hope you can "tune in" , even it's not the most pleasant experience. :)

FOUR INCARNATIONS OF LOVE. 3.DISTRUST
The third piece is about “dark” face of love - jealousy and possessiveness. The partnership for creating it came from South Africa - brilliant violin player Waldo Luc Alexander accepted my proposition to team up for both last pieces of the cycle, and his “string-touch” helped to express the cold, annoying and destructive nature of this side of love here.

The second piece of the cycle of four dedicated to physical expression of love. Beautiful Arabic Nay was my choice to articulate the “dreamy” aspect of it. Water tale of Love
This piece have an entire philosophy underneath.Water, as an element , the only matter that connecting everything alive, as it’s present in all 3 (gas, hard matter and fluid) states everywhere.. More then that - as I believe (homeopathy principals ) that water have memory - it’s collected information about everything since it’s existence, that makes it the wisest and the most experienced element. And the message of it - love is the only way for everything. On a technical level in the piece - we have two “forces” in constant dialog : one, represented by piano ,is well structured, thoughtful , planned and calculated. Another (bouzouki) - is spontaneous, eruptive ,emotional and unstable. The interaction of this two creating the perfect balance - the ultimate solution for best outcome…The bright, “sunny” and colorful sound of bouzouki in hands of absolute master of it - Michael Paouris , made my dreams come thru , and now we have a product of two-way inspiration for your pleasure. Enjoy :)

Four incarnations of Love. 1. Romance
This is an audio "portrait" of the first appearance of Love. I’ve had a melody , that I recorded as a sample and sent it to Anat asking to listen to it and if she had an idea for words. Then I thought that it will be nice to have an instrument that not exactly expected in this musical environment... I started research the pieces uploaded to the platform and soon came across wonderful Kamancheh player Hassan Khodayinia. I asked him if he want to participate, and he generously agreed and in a week later I had several optional tracks from him. Interesting how passion can be expressed in so many ways :) It's sounds still special even to my ear, but I love the result , and happy to share it with you here.

L'addio di Anna
“L’addio di Anna” is a nostalgic franco-italian stylized melody of a cinematic/theatric nature - somehow the love and bright sadness are always there :-). The three main melody players however are far from this places geographically - clarinet ,played by brilliant musician of Iranian origins , duduk from Armenia and harmonica (melodica) … maybe this one the closest - Russian Federation. All of them playing the melody and improvising in a very touching and convincing way - even though our languages and cultures are different - our feelings are of the same nature. It’s fully expressed here and I am sure you will love it.

Night vision *Bolero)
When I studied music , I heard that once you put a man and a woman in the same room and let them listen to “Bolero” by M. Ravel - by the end of the piece they will fall in love. Even though it’s just a fantasy - I like the idea of “viral” passion of this masterpiece … I used a paraphrase of the Bolero as a starting point for creation of “Night vision”, and then asked Jake and Daniel to go as far as possible from standard improvisational way of thinking…. The result is for you to judge. Enjoy and let your fantasy take you far away :)

"When you will get to my house To the melodies of my love I'll open my door for you ..I'll give you my heart " It is a love song that I wrote, describing the deep love between me and my soul who yearns to fulfill its destiny without fear and trust its way in this world. In the song I speak with my soul and the Creator about my journey as a singer in this world but can also be interpreted as a love song between a woman and her lover. When Sasha asked me to send him a song for the Beyond Music project, I immediately thought about this song, which for me symbolizes my deep love for singing and music and the deep gratitude that I feel for the privilege and ability to sing I was very excited by the wonderful musical arrangement of Sasha and the playing of all the great and talented musicians in the song and I would like to thank them and Beyond Music for the opportunity and privilege Thank you and sending my love, Sharon

Mama
Sasha: Spending some time researching the “Artists” section of the platform I came across absolutely fantastic voices of Sepideh, Syssi and Sharon. Touched by their beauty and power I’ve decided to create a piece that each one of them will have a part and absolute freedom of expression. Basically it stands on improvisations of the ladies and a melody that I have written as a “child song” inspired by the conceptual idea of “the mothers voice as the first human voice we all hear”. As this voices maybe vary from place to place - they are all creating the same feeling in us - love. This is our take on it. Please - enjoy.

To JK... With love.
A melody , dedicated to my dear friend and guitar player JK, that was a source for inspiration and left too early... Recorded with help of another friend with almost same abbreviation - JaKe, and one of the best music companions I've had - Thomi Geiger on soprano saxophone. There are some cello (Ioanna Seira) and violins on the background (Mihai Ilea and Javier Lopez Sanz) at the end, that made it much more vibrant and warm. Was a pleasure to work on this one.

La 'Allam
The piece "La 'Allam" is simply a Love Song composed by Ali Asaad, it is a piece of Ali's current working on new Syrian Song formations, which is built on intimate spoken contemporary Syrian poetry (here the poet Hani Nadeem) with various dialects/accents of Syrian-Levantine Arabic. Reflecting nuances of Syrian youths and their concerns and struggles to establish normality and to be able to live love stories under the pressure of the last severe 8 years. This forms "a new identity" questions especially with the huge number of Syrian youths who moved to Europe recently. The new identity is reflected musically by collaborating with Russian Swiss-based arranger Sasha Shlain, and Swiss Saxophonist Thomi Geiger, trying to bring the Syrian Pop Song into its new orbit, to confront new musical textures and possibilities of arrangement, effected basically by Jazz settings and electronics, and to find its new paths of dialogue in its new society, targeting Syrians and Europeans at the same time.

Searching for the Pitch No.1
The piece "Searching for the Pitch No.1" is built on Iraqi Folk Music / Religious Ritual Genre of Singing. It is being vocalized and recomposed by Ali Asaad (main chant and choir-like vocals). This uploaded track is a collaboration with the Russian Swiss-based composer Sasha (Alexander) Shlain who I have met on Beyond platform, and we started discussing and shaping our project together, and also with the Swiss composer and multi wind-instrumentalist Sandro Friedrich. The track includes Sasha Shalin's collaboration as arranger in the electronic accompaniment, as well as the own-improvised recorded solo of Duduk played by Sandro Friedrich. This will show how we are working on the material, and it is surely not a final result of every composition I am submitting (compositionally and for studio-related conditions).

The 11th Hour
When I browsed the different participants in Beyond Music, I liked Sasha's musical background right away: Such an interesting blend of different cultures and skills! It is reflected in this track which is unconventional yet very groove-centered, including allusions to many different cultures and styles! In this track I play bass flute, traverse flute and Jew's harps.

day after day
I wrote this very personal song, in the intimacy of my room, and it was quite an experience to work on it together with Sasha who gave it his own footprint, from both sides of the world...

Duduk and Piano work very well in collaborations so we chose a 2000 year old Armenian melody and improvised it mixed it with some modern sounds of piano.

Qarrart Aseeb (I decided to Leave)
I got a call from the migration office in Switzerland that i have to leave the country tomorrow out of nowhere because my work permit was not extended, although i studied, worked and lived there for 5 years. This triggered many emotions in me and made me taste a little tiny bit of what refugees go through all over the world. Before i departed to Cairo, i met Sasha, and i showed him the song i wrote about my experience. We let our souls express all we could feel and wish to create this piece.

Hurt
A collaborative work with amazing israely singer Anat Porat. Took some time, as a piece is very uncommon melody-wise , but the result is (in my opinion) astonishing. Loved every moment of working on it together...
